What you'll learn

  • Explain a need and a want
  • Sort examples using simple reasoning
  • Recognize that context can sometimes change the answer

A need is something important for basic living, safety, health, or learning. A want is something optional that can still be fun or meaningful.

Context matters

A winter coat may be a need in a cold place. A restaurant meal might be a want most days, but food itself is a need.
